  • Prayer Request

On October 7-9, I will be speaking at TRPC College Retreat (Remnant Student Disciples (RSD)) .  Originally Pastor Victor Kim was suppose to be the speaker but somehow I got the job.  I am the pinch hitter but please pray for me.  Pray that God may use this retreat to bless the college students of NYC.  I was privilged to be their first speaker a while ago and I heard great things are happening there. Again please pray for this retreat!!!

  • Let’s sign up and get blessed together!!!

We have the 2nd annual camping trip for the brothers of GCC coming up.  Let’s sign up and build our man’s ministry.  Last year it went well but this year I have a feeling it is going to be way better. Don’t miss it.

We have our woman’s retreat coming up.  Let’s sign up and get blessed!!!

There is a lot going on but pray for these two events to really build up the men and women of GCC.  I have a feeling that both of these events is going something you should not miss!!!

  • Pray with me!!!

There are so many things happening this year.  God is asking GCC to push forward into some new territories. I am excited. There is much to talk about but first I would appreciate prayer for two things.

    1. Pastor Barry and Symphony Church in Boston.  I am sure you have heard by this time but Pastor Barry’s father passed away Saturday.  He was a believer and in his last days he was really serving and growing in the Lord. Here is what P. Barry wrote to the AMI pastors. I am posting it because I believe it will help you to pray for them.  I will be going to Boston tomorrow for the services.

    Hi everyone,

I just wanted to let you know that my father passed away this morning.  My parents had been visiting with me in Boston – last week he had a stroke, and was in and out of the ICU for a week.  Early this morning, he had a cardiac arrest, and he passed away at 9am.

I am thankful that he was a believer and that his pain has ended.  Two weeks ago, I had preached on the good news that Jesus is the resurrection and the life.  I didn’t know that message would become so profoundly relevant to me so quickly, but I am thankful for that truth.

I would ask that you pray for my family and Symphony during this time.  My mother and brother are here, and we are grieving but holding up.  It is a busy time of the year for the church.  Pastor Ryun will be driving up from Philadelphia to preach at Symphony over this weekend.  I am truly thankful for the AMI family.

    God bless,
    Barry

    2. We are trying to go deeper into the Mainline Campuses.  I see so much potential in these campuses. Pray with us that God will raise up a new generation of Kingdom Workers that can partner with GCC.  Pray for this event!!!

  • Summary of Asia Trip

I am on my way home and I have some time here at the Korean Airport.  It was a whirlwind trip in Asia for the last two weeks.

My first stop was in Vietnam at the AMI Bible School (Vision School). There were around 40-50 pastors and lay leaders at the school. It was a lot of work there.  I was assigned to teach the OT Prophetic Books.  I spent most of the time in Vietnam preparing to teach and then teaching the course.  I learned a lot   The students felt like I assigned too much homework this time but I had no way of avoiding it.  I use to be one of the popular teachers but I don’t know after this class.   I also spent some time connecting with Pastor Ryun and one of the AMI workers who is stationed in Vietnam.  It was a good to see how God is opening doors in Vietnam.  God is amazing.  GCC get ready to serve in Vietnam because many doors are opening.

My second stop was in China.  My purpose was to meet up with the AMI workers there and just encourage them.  I wanted to especially encourage our GCC sister who has been in China for 3 years now.  I also wanted to meet up with our GCC summer team and pray with them.  All the tasks were accomplished.  I had a great time with AMI workers in China.  We spent time talking, eating, praying and encouraging each other.  I hope I was a blessing to them as they were to me as I heard their heart for China. I also got to spend time welcoming the GCC team to China and had a good time of prayer with them.

My last quick stop was in Korea. It was only for a day and Ellen got some GCC people together to pray.  I loved it.  It was good to see people in Korea and to have a FNL prayer meeting.  I love praying with GCC members.

God is good. God is faithful.  Praise God I get to go home!!!

P.S. I was very popular with the P. Sung’s kids. I was surprised.  One of them really did not want me to leave. My new friend in China…..will remind me to pray more for what is going on there!!!

  • Prayer Meeting in Korea (July 15 at 6:30pm)

    Hi Everyone in Korea

We will be having a prayer meeting in Korea. I am in China right now and on my way back we will be having a good old fashion GCC Friday Night Prayer Meeting in Korea. We will start with dinner at 6:30pm and then pray afterwards. Ellen Eun will be organizing it so if you are in Korea get in touch with her. She will tell you the time and the place. It will be around the Bundang area. The host family can only fit around 10 people in their place so the first 10 gets to come and pray with us. I hope to see you!!! God bless.

  • In Asia

    What am I doing here?

    1. I have been waking up 5am. This is around 6pm in Philly. I am trying to do some sit ups, push ups, and good old fashion jumping jacks. I am trying.

    2. I go out to eat breakfast with P. Ryun and then I start to get ready to teach OT prophetic books. I basically spend all morning preparing for class that I will teach in the afternoon.

    3. I have pretty good students. Most of them are pastors and lay leaders in the church here. They are complaining because I am giving them a lot of home work. They don’t like it but there is no way we can cover all this material unless they do the homework. I am one of their favorite teachers. At least they say that but not after this class.

    4. I get to skpe with my family in the morning too.

    5. There is no facebook updating here because they block facebook. I have been asking Sarah to update my facebook time to time.

    6. After I teach I have been spending time with P. Ryun. We have been talking about AMI and GCC. It’s been fun getting to know him. I am excited that he is going to be part of AMI and also attend GCC.

  • Thoughts from AMI Revolution 2011

AMI Revolution 2011 was powerful.  God really is blessing the churches of AMI and I felt that this was one of the best Revolution we have had.  The speakers were really used by God and I loved the RW band.  Of course I love GCC band but it was very refreshing to have another band lead in Philly.  Here is my summary of the messages I am praying through from AMI Revolution 2011.

    1. P. Keith- We are called to align our lives to the will of God. The will of God is to reach all nations for Jesus. We can do it together as AMI Community of Churches.  We are to be blessed to be a blessing to the nations. Amen!!!

    2. P. Victor- Don’t miss God’s time to fill us with His grace.  Don’t let the blessings pass you by.  Don’t miss it because we are stuck in sin that easily entangles.  Don’t let different distractions to hinder us from receiving all we have in Jesus. Fix your eyes on Jesus and get your eyes off other things!!!

    3. P. Matt- Repent from sin and Receive the grace of God!!! God warns us and blesses us!!!

    4. P. Sam- God wants to transform you in Jesus.  He wants to make you a worshiper under all condition. Who cares if the bathroom does not work (inside joke)!!!  Who cares if the sound quality is off!!! We are called to worship in all conditions.  We are to worship even in suffering.  God wants to change you so you can influence the world.  AMI wants to raise kingdom workers who are transformed by Christ to influence the world!!!

    5. P. Young- I had so much fun preaching to the AMI Revolution participants.  I pray your laughter was a laughter of great conviction and blessing.  God is unpredictable but trustworthy.  We are unlikely heroes but God wants to use us for His kingdom advancement.  We need to be available, faithful, and obedient. God is looking for someone to say I am available and Lord give me the power of grace to be faithful and obedient!!! Remember Ehud!!! The left handed man from the right handed tribe of Israel .

Pray for me as I am traveling in Asia!!! I will be teaching shortly.  I am teaching a class on the prophetic books of the Old Testaments.

  • Pray for AMI Revolution in Philly

It is coming in a week and we are excited and ready for it. Let’s keep praying!!! There will be about 150 people out side of Philly coming.  Let’s keep praying!!!

  • AMI Vision Trip 2011

There were 21 of us.  The team was composed of many working professionals and pastors.  We were from 5 different AMI churches. Here are some thoughts I have from the  two week trip as we hopped 5 cities of Asia.

    1.  Let’s keep praying for the AMI workers in Asia.  I believe God is going to use them to make a great impact in China and Vietnam.  We need to be part of it through prayer.  It is exciting to see what God is doing through the AMI churches in these countries.  I was truly blessed. It is a great teamwork we have.

    2. There are many great opportunities that are opening up for GCC to impact these countries.  I am praying that in the next years to come we will have many 1-2 year commitment to the cities in Asia to serve the Lord.

    3.  I am praying that many young professionals from GCC will save up there vacation days and funds to take a vision trip with me to Asia. Save up and let’s catch God’s vision together!!!

    4.  God is using GCC to plant churches and impact the world….I am so humbled….I am so thankful.  Thank you Jesus!!!!

It was great having Pastor Shan with me.  He is a great person to travel with.  I believe we both learned a lot. Got the shades for a cheap price at Vietnam. Hope it will protect my eyes.
